Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering examines and controls the structure of matter at the scale of one billionth of a meter (nanometer); In this way, it is an interdisciplinary science and engineering branch that aims to design and develop advanced materials needed in new technologies. Metals, ceramics, polymers, composite materials, semiconductors and biomaterials constitute the main area of interest of studies in this field. Nanotechnology products are rapidly entering our lives in many fields from medicine to microelectronics, from renewable energy technologies to the aviation industry, from the defense industry to the furniture industry, and bring great innovations. Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering changes the way of life of human beings and increases the quality of life. Scientists and economists believe that nanotechnology will mark the 21st century as a new industrial and information revolution.
As the Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering Department, which was opened within the body of Abdullah Gül University, we have a young, dynamic and experienced academic staff with doctorate degrees from the world's and Turkey's leading universities and work experience in renowned research laboratories. The quality, number and number of citations of the scientific studies carried out by our faculty members compete with the best institutions in this field in our country. As AGU, we will actively participate in the nanotechnology revolution of the 21st century by increasing the exchange of technology and scientists through joint projects with institutions and organizations in America, Europe and the Far East, and we will open our students' horizons to globalization and nano-future. In order to achieve this, we attach importance to the active participation of our undergraduate students as well as graduate and doctoral students in academic research. Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering department is a department where close cooperation is experienced with regional and global industry branches and business sectors, especially in Kayseri.
Our department is currently taking part in the "Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology" master's program and "Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering" doctorate program carried out by the Institute of Science and Technology and will admit students to the undergraduate program for the academic year 2024-25. Our students who graduate from the undergraduate program of AGU Materials Science and Nanotechnology Departments will graduate with technical and theoretical knowledge at a level to be able to look at basic sciences and engineering fields from a wide perspective and to carry out effective R&D studies at their intersections, thanks to the training they receive from expert faculty members in different fields. Our graduates will be able to continue their doctoral and post-doctoral studies at AGU and the world's leading universities, and they will be able to work in many advanced technology companies both in Turkey and in the world.
